Road accidents are rarely caused by one single factor which they illustrate the failures in the operation of the involved constituent of a huge and complicated transport system involving the vehicle itself, the road conditions, driver's attitude and his/her social environment.
According to reliable source, there are more than 1.7 million people die in road crashes every year worldwide. Seventy percent of those involved in the figures above occurred in developing countries sixty-five percent of deaths involved pedestrian and thirty-five percent of pedestrian death are children.

It has been estimated that at least 6 million more people will die and 60 million more will be injured during the next 10 years in developing countries unless immediate actions taken. The study forecasts that by the year 2020 road accidents would move up to the third place in the table of leading causes of death and disability facing the world community. |
